I just got back from a trip to Massachusetts. My husband, Howard, and I had a good time with my parents, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I made them an anniversary quilt. I looked online and couldn't find what I wanted, so I came up with my own design. It starts with a movie theater representing their first date, second is the church they got married in followed by their first apartment. Their hobbies are represented by stores, and places they worked are there as well. I basically just picked several things from their lives, and made quilt blocks for it. I used novelty fabrics for the windows. It is mostly pieced, but there is some applique as well.

This is a GREAT idea. I love it and your parents will be so so happy! Thank you for sharing!!
What a cute idea! I love it.
You did a great job on your parents anniversary quilt. How original. Just wanted to say I am also a homeschooling mom - have only graduated one so far after 10 years. My second one will graduate this year and then there is Brittanie who we adopted this year - she is 2. So starting over - but I'm enjoying her and my quilting seems to fit in there somewhere. I like your blog. You've done a great job. Come visit mine sometime, quazymama.blogspot.com and tell me what you think.
God Bless,
