I didn't sew much this week, but today was my big hope for getting something done. I am pretty happy with what I got done today. I did get the twins other two summer blankets done, but I didn't take a picture, they are just hemmed fabric, not too exciting.
While I was working on making the string blocks, I worked on a few blue crumb blocks. I finished these three today. I find crumb blocks slow going, but someday, if I keep making them, I'll have enough for a quilt. Crumb blocks are good leader/enders for string blocks. I like to use my seam guide when doing precise sewing, so crumb blocks and string blocks work well together since I don't use my seam guide for either.
The triangles from my last post are now sewn into these squares. I got these all sewn and trimmed today. Some of the triangles are just in pairs for use as setting triangles, and I had to put four aside for corners.
I laid a few blocks out on my bed to get an idea of how the quilt will look when together. The blocks will be on point, and I just laid them out straight, but I just wanted to make sure everything was playing nicely. Using a blue background really changed the look of the quilt! Using Bonnie's color placement, I would be using purple as my inner border, but I think I will use yellow instead. Next step for this quilt is to make the pieced border, then I can start assembly on it.
I did a couple other miscellaneous things today. I started the twins Samurai/Geisha quilts. The pattern is so simple, I actually got all the blocks for both quilts done. I'll post a pic when I get one of them up on the design wall. I knew these quilts would go fast once I actually got started.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and everyone is working, including me. I am babysitting tomorrow, probably a 10 hour day. DH is off on Saturday, but he has plans, so my birthday is kind of a non-issue this year. I will just have to count my trip to Sedona as my birthday present ;-)

Wow, your RRCB is awesome, I really love the blue, it has a whole different look. Happy Belated Birthday!
This is beautiful!!! I love your color combination. It clearly says sand and sea to me.
It's turning really nicely! Love the blue with the coral, and yes, it DOES look different than those with a light neutral.
Greetings, Melodie--we are birthday twins!! Love your RRCB!!!

happy birthday! your rrcb is gorgeous! i love the blue string blocks instead of neutrals. wish i had done something like that! i'm stuck about 2/3rds of the way thru my rrcb. need to get moving on it!
I really like your blue theme for the RRCB - I have the pattern but have yet to even think about working on it. And hope you do have a Happy Birthday!
LOVE your colour scheme for the RRCB! This is the first quilt I have seen that didn't broadly follow Bonnie's colourway. It looks stunning :)
